Your visual image will make an impact on the person who might be interviewing you for the position you are hoping to be hired to fill.  It is up to you to do your research about the company and the dress code expected of employees.  You can do some of that research by arriving in the morning or after work to see employees come to work or leave work.  By observing the different people and what they are wearing you can have a fair picture of what to wear to your first interview.  You will be a better possible fit for the person who is doing the interview.  That happens with their decision almost on a subconscious level so it would be to your advantage to capitalize on that as you go job hunting.
