You can learn how to dress for your body and face shape to complement your best features. It all begins with discovery, what would best support and enhance your identity now that would be beneficial in achieving your future goals?

Include in your discovery:

  • What activities you enjoy
  • What type of clothing is necessary for those activities
  • What type of work you enjoy doing
  • What are your clothing requirements for work

Once you have a better idea of how you want people to see you in the world with your clothing and wardrobe, you can begin to add to and subtract from the clothing items you already own.  Add only those clothing items that will support your discovery.

When you meet someone, there is about a 8-12 second period of time while decisions are being made about who you are and whether you are who you say you are.  The saying “You never have a second chance to make a good first impression”  is true. That impression formed on your first meeting with another person, continues to influence your relationship with the person.  You can overcome decisions that are not favorable to you but it does take a great deal of time and energy.

If you have made a bad first impression and it is important for you to change that impression with the person you met, the first step to do that is to change the consistency in your dressing.  As you are getting dressed each day, evaluate what you have selected to wear.  Decide if the look is consistent with the image you want everyone else to connect with as you go about your day.

If you look is ho-hum one day and fabulous the next day you will continue to confuse the people you meet with your inconsistency. Continue to work toward looking fabulous every day and you gradually will overcome your bad first impression.  It will take time, but your effort will be worth it to you, so continue in that direction.

There are many things that contribute to your image and need your attention to be sure that everything is contributing to looking your best. Look at the underside of your hand and see if the color you see through your skin tone (your blood) is pink or peach colored.  If pink you are cool toned, if peach you are warm toned and that will give you the color palette for your clothing.  You can find information everywhere about color so I won’t go into that in this post.

Then, based on which area of the world you live in your wardrobe is influenced by climate, your lifestyle and your work. The clothing that you need to accommodate those areas can be further fine tuned by your body temperature and comfort level. These are great places to start when freshening up your image.
